Ariana Grandehas settled the Han Shot First debate, which has long plagued theStar Warsfandom, with impeccablelogic and, for good measure, a double blaster of her own.
In the short clip celebrating The Force Awakens, Grande kicks back while two sloshed aliensargue over whether Greedo or Han Solofired firstat the cantina on Mos Eisley. Ugh, God, youre both wrong, Grande finally butts in. Han didnt shoot first because Greedo never fired off a shot in the first place.Han shot, Greedo died, end of story!
Greedos problem, as Grande explains, was that he was too busy yakking to save himself. Thepop star then demonstrates exactly what she means, by discreetlypulling the trigger of her blaster and leaving the two goonssmoking in the booth as she walksoff.
The Who Shot First? videowas written and directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, a go-to music video director who previously worked with Grande on the clips for Break Freeand her Christmas track,Santa Tell Me.
George Lucas, for his part, recently weighed in on the Han-Greedo controversy, which arose after he edited thefamous New Hope sequenceforthe 1997 special editionso thatGreedo didfire first.
Han Solo was going to marry Leia, and you look back and say, Should he be a cold-blooded killer?' the filmmaker toldThe Washington Post. Because I was thinking mythologically should he be a cowboy, should he be John Wayne? And I said, Yeah, he should be John Wayne. And when youre John Wayne, you dont shoot people [first] you let them have the first shot. Its a mythological reality that we hope our society pays attention to.
