To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Star Wars is offering fans the chance to win a cameo in the upcoming Han Solo standalone film, a visit to Skywalker Ranch and a trip to the premiere of The Last Jedi as part of its latest Force for Change fundraising initiative. Stars Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley detailed the new campaign in a video that aired on Good Morning America Tuesday.
Each week, a winner will be announced for one of the three major prizes, while a grand prize winner will get all three fan experiences. Fans can enter by donating any dollar amount on the campaigns Omaze hub, with each donation giving more entries to win (for instance a $25 donation equals 250 entries to win). Proceeds will benefit UNICEF and the Starlight Childrens Foundation. The campaign ends May 11th.
The stay at Skywalker Ranch will be the first major prize offered. The trip includes a VIP tour of the ranch and the Star Wars archives, plus a private screening of A New Hope. Meanwhile, the winner of the Han Solo standalone film experience will get to tour the set, meet directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller and have the chance to appear in the upcoming film. And the winner of The Last Jedi prize will get to join the cast at the premiere, walk the red carpet and attend the after-party. The winner of each prize will also get to bring one friend, and flights and accommodations will be provided.
Along with the major fan experiences, the Force for Change fundraising initiative is also offering a slew of gifts to donors. These include limited edition t-shirts, poster sets, an HJC X-wing motorcycle helmet and a private screening of The Last Jedi.
Star Wars ran a similar campaign in 2014, offering fans the chance to appear in The Force Awakens. The long-awaited follow-up, The Last Jedi, opens December 15th.
