Stripper Aziah Zola Wells story captivated the Internet when her tale of a Florida road trip in October gone horribly wrong unfolded on Twitter. It inspired a more detailed account in David Kushners exclusive story, Zola Tells All: The Real Story Behind the Greatest Stripper Saga Ever Tweeted for Rolling Stone, and now a movie based on the Rolling Stone article is in the works. According to Variety, James Franco, Andrew Neel and Killer Films are developing the film version of the account.
Zolas saga began with her first tweet, Okay, listen up. This story long. So I met this white bitch at Hooters Kushners report dives deep into her harrowing road trip to Florida with said white bitch, Jessica; Jessicas maudlin boyfriend, Jarrett; and Jessicas violent Nigerian pimp, Z. Tricks get turned, a hustler gets murdered, Jarrett leaps from a four-story window, Kushner writes. It reads like Spring Breakers meets Pulp Fiction, as told by Nicki Minaj.
Zolas story was hashtagged #TheStory, trended worldwide and had some famous fans while it unfolded on Twitter. As Kushner uncovers as he examines Zolas story through the people involved and via her friends and family, many details line up, though a few key points do not.
Despite some dispute on certain details, the lurid story leads to a very real life sex trafficking scheme, which ends in the arrest of the aforementioned Nigerian pimp, Z.' Akporode Rudy Uwedjojevwe was charged with sexual assault, sex trafficking, battery, attempted pandering and felony counts in Nevada.
Franco is slated to direct and co-produce the film with Vince Jolivette via their Rabbit Bandini Productions. Killer Films Christine Vachon and David Hinojosa and Gigi Films Gia Walsh and Karen Baker are also producers. Neel and Mike Roberts serve as the scriptwriters.
