Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg Set for Fifth Indiana Jones Movie


Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg will reunite for a fifth Indiana Jones movie, set to arrive in theaters July 19th, 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film follows 2008s attempted reboot, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which found Ford teaming up with Shia LaBeouf, who played Jones son. There were hopes that the young actor would then carry on the franchise, but such movies never materialized.

Despite thathiccup, veteranproducers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall have said that thenew Indiana Jonesfilm will likely include younger actors though Ford will remain the one and only Indiana Jones. No other casting decisions have been announced, nor has a screenwriter been named.

In an interview with THR last year, Kennedy said of the then-still-rumored fifth Indiana Jones movie: Were all trying to figure out when the right time is to step back in Weve kicked around a couple of story ideas, but beyond that, I dont know yet. I think there will be one, well certainly move forward with Indy.

Like Spielberg and Ford, Kennedy and Marshallhave worked on everyIndiana Jones film, starting with 1981sRaiders of the Lost Ark. The pair, who are also married, have recently scored big hits with major franchise reboots as well: Marshall with Jurassic Worldand Kennedy who is president of Lucasfilm with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The fifth Indiana Jones will also be the first to be released byDisney. In 2012, Disney purchased Lucasfilmand with it, the rightsto Star Warsbut the entertainment giant had to strike another deal with originalIndiana Jonesstudio, Paramount, in order toacquire that franchise. The 2013 dealallows Paramount to retain the rights to the first four films, while the studio will alsoreceive financial participation on any future movies.
