Sir Patrick Stewart Scoops Up Poop Emoji Role in Emoji Movie

Sir Patrick Stewart just landed a literal shit role: The dignified actor, best known for his trademark work in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the X-Men franchise, scooped up the part of Poop in the upcoming Emoji Movie, Sony Pictures announced Wednesday.

The company revealed the casting via Twitter, writing, So excited to announce the distinguished @SirPatStew as Poop in the #EmojiMovie, along with a picture of Stewarts character, a charming pile of feces wearing a bow-tie.

The computer-animated 3-D comedy, out August 4th, features T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley) as Gene, an exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions. Other voice actors include Maya Rudolph (Smile), Ilana Glazer (Jailbreak), James Corden (Hi-Five), Steven Wright (Mel Meh), Rob Riggle (an ice cream emoji) and Tom Kane (Poop Daddy). Tony Leondis directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Eric Siegel and Mike White.

Sony Pictures Animation recently released a teaser-trailer for the film, which features Wrights unenthused Mel Meh promoting the project in his trademark droll style. Bring the family, he says. It doesnt have to be your family.

This year, Stewart will also revive his signature role as Charles Xavier/Professor X in Marvels latest Wolverine film,Logan, which hits theaters March 3rd.
