Force Awakens Digital, DVD Release Dates and Bonus Footage Unveiled

Star Wars: The Force Awakenswill be available digitally on April 1st, while the specialBlu-ray and DVD editions will arriveon April 5th.

The DVD and Blu-ray releases will come with a bevy of bonus features, including deleted scenes and a documentary chronicling the making of The Force Awakensthat will includeinterviews with the cast and filmmakers. Featurettes on the first Force Awakens table read, the making of BB-8 and other new creatures and an in-depth look at the climactic lightsaber fight between Rey and Kylo Ren will also be available.

Target, Best Buy and Walmart will also stock different versions of the DVD and Blu-ray packages. Targets will boast interviews with stars Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn), and a look at the costumes and weaponry of The Force Awakens. Walmarts edition will feature special BB-8 packaging, while Best Buys will boast SteelBook packaging.

Star Wars: The Force Awakenshas raked in a staggering $2.05 billion worldwide so far, shattering opening-weekend box office records bybringing in $238 millionin North America. The film also went on to garner four Oscar nominations.

Production on the follow-upto The Force Awakens began in February. The as-yet-untitledEpisode VIIIwill be directed byRian Johnson and features much ofthe cast from the previous films, as well as newcomers Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern andKelly Marie Tran.Episode VIIIis scheduled to arrive December 15th, 2017, while the first Star Warsanthology film,Rogue One, hits theaters this December 16th.
