Jonny Greenwood to Score New Film Starring Joaquin Phoenix


RadioheadsJonny Greenwood will score a new film starring Joaquin Phoenix, You Were Never Really Here, that will premiere at Cannes Film Festival, which runs May 17th through 28th, The Playlist reports.

Lynne Ramsay directed You Were Never Really Here, which is an adaptation of Jonathan Ames novella of the same name. The film tells the story of a war veteran who tries to save a young girl from a sex trafficking ring. Greenwood previously scored Ramsays 2011 thriller, We Need to Talk About Kevin.

Ramsay is the only other filmmaker Greenwood has worked with besides Paul Thomas Anderson and along with You Were Never Really Here, the Radiohead guitarist is currentlyworking on his fourth film for Anderson. The as-yet-untitled project will star Daniel Day Lewis and center around the fashion world in London during the Fifties. Per a description,The story illuminates the life behind the curtain of an uncompromising dressmaker commissioned by royalty and high society.

Greenwood previously scored Andersons moviesThere Will Be Blood, The Master and Inherent Vice (the latter two starred Phoenix). The filmmaker also recently directed a pair of Radiohead videosand the 2015 documentary, Junun, about Greenwoods album with Israeli musician Shye Ben-Tzur.

Greenwood also remains busy with Radiohead, who have been touring regularly in support of their 2016 album,A Moon Shaped Pool. The group recently wrapped up another North American leg and will tour Europe this summer. Radiohead also announced a reissue of their seminal 1997 album, OK Computer, featuring three previously unreleased tracks.
