Jonathan Rhys Meyers delivers a blistering performance of the Clashs Clash City Rockers as Joe Strummer in the latest clip from the upcoming movie, London Town.
The coming-of-age film tells the story of Shay (Daniel Huttlestone), a budding, Clash-obsessed punk who happens to meet Strummer on several occasions (including once in a jail cell). The new clip, however, finds Shay marveling at his hero onstage as he attends a show with his love interest/punk guru, Vivian (Nell Williams).
As for Meyers portrayal of Strummer, the actor expertly captures the blunt lilt of the frontmans sneer as he barrels through Clash City Rockers, which appeared on the Clashs 1977 self-titled debut. Meyers even peppers the songs final refrain with tongue trills as the band bashes out the songs bombastic breakdown.
London Townwill open in theaters and be available on VOD and iTunes on October 7th. Along with the Clash, thesoundtrack will feature music by the Buzzcocks, the Stranglers, Toots and the Maytals, Willie Williams and Stiff Little Fingers.
