Ben Affleck will direct and star in a new Batman movie, Warner Bros chief Kevin Tsujihara confirmed at CinemaCon, Varietyreports.
Tsujihara offered few details about the movie, mentioning it only as he ticked off the 10 DC Comics moviesWarner plans to release over the next five years. He also touted the massive $166.1 million opening weekend for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the first movie to feature Affleck as the Caped Crusader.
It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020, Tsujiharasaid of the film. Im also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie.
Affleck also appeared at the event with Batman v Superman co-star Amy Adams, but did not discuss the Batmanmovie.
Wordthat Affleck was developinga Batman movie with DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns initiallysurfaced last year. According to initial reports, the moviewould follow the events of Dawn of Justice and Justice League, and that production would begin after Affleck finished directing the upcoming prohibition-era crime-drama, Live By Night.
Along with his own forthcomingfilm, Affleck will appear as Batmanin several upcomingDC movies including Suicide Squadand the two Justice Leaguefilms. The comics giant is also prepping films for Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash.
