Our first look at one of the most anticipated films of 2015 has arrived: After leaking early, Marvel has shared the first real trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron. While the first film placed equal emphasis on action and humor, the sequel doesnt look nearly as lighthearted. From the opening frames of the trailer, its clear the film features a fight to the death between man and machine. Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1st, 2015.
The preview opens up with James Spaders processed voice of genocide-obsessed android Ultron promising carnage (not that Carnage). Other apocalyptic images are shown: Mass destruction, Captain Americas shattered shield, a heavily damaged Ultron, silver Iron Men flying out of the water and Thor choking out Tony Stark. But the coolest visual we get from the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer: The Incredible Hulk engaging in hand-to-hand combat with a Hulk-sized Iron Man.
Its the end. The end of the path I started us on, Robert Downey Jr.s Tony Stark tells his superhero colleagues, a callback to the firstIron Manfilm that started this whole journey. Avengers: Age of Ultron is rumored to be the final chapter in this phase of Marvel stories; a focus on the beloved Infinity Gauntlet storyline and the Guardians of the Galaxy is positioned down the road.

The trailer wasnt supposed to debut until the October 28th episode of Marvels Agents of SHIELD, but the two-minute preview still popped up on YouTube prematurely Wednesdaynight. Dammit, Hydra, Marvel Entertainment tweeted, jokingly blaming the leak on the villainous organization that SHIELD is fighting.
The trailer also containsanother look at the newest Avengers: Quicksilver, the superfast son of Magneto played by actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and his twin sister the Scarlet Witch, with Elizabeth Olson in the role. (They also briefly appeared in captivity in the post-credits scene from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.)
The Quicksilver character is unique within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as hes the only comic character overlapping in film franchises: Quicksilver is being portrayed by different actors in Marvel/Walt Disneys Avengers films and Marvel/20th Century Foxs X-Men series, with actor Evan Peters playing Quicksilverin the latter.
