The latest trailer for Oliver Stones Snowdendebuted at Comic-Con and finds NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden sacrificing love to expose classified secrets. Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as the titular computer analyst, who famously leaked documents connected to the governments surveillance programs.
The gripping preview focuses on Snowden falling in love with girlfriend Lindsay Mills (Shailene Woodley) and sacrificing the life they build together in his quest for truth. What is it about this job that makes it more important than your life? Mills asks Snowden, who angrily tells her, You have no idea what its like to be accountable for other peoples lives.
The trailer, soundtracked by a creepy version of When the Saints Go Marching In, also features several chilling moments, including Snowden freaking out that his house is bugged and smuggling documents out of government headquarters by hiding a minuscule memory card in a Rubiks Cube.
Stone directedSnowdenfrom a screenplay co-written with Kieran Fitzgerald. The film co-stars Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans and Nicolas Cage. The movie is set for release on September 16th.
