Watch New Bruce Springsteen-Heavy Trailer For American Honey

American Honey an upcoming road movie flick starring Shia LaBeouf and newcomer Sasha Lane has just released a new trailer that prominently features Bruce Springsteens cover of Suicides Dream Baby Dream. The film centers around a teen runaway who teams up with a group of disaffected young people that travel the country selling magazine subscriptions. Its the first US movie by British director Andrea Arnold and it picked up a lot of buzz when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Springsteen began covering Suicides 1979 song Dream Baby Dream on the 2005 Devils and Dust tour where it regularly closed out the show. He released a studio version on 2014s High Hopes and played it occasionally on the road that year, most notably as the final song at the tour finale at the Mohegan Sun Arena. It returned as the show opener last month at a show in Horsens, Denmark, just four days after Suicide frontman Alan Vega passed away.

Over here on E Street, we are saddened to hear of the passing of Alan Vega, one of the great revolutionary voices in rock & roll, Springsteen wrote in a Facebook post. The bravery and passion he showed throughout his career was deeply influential to me. I was lucky enough to get to know Alan slightly and he was always a generous and sweet spirit. The blunt force power of his greatest music both with Suicide and on his solo records can still shock and inspire today. There was simply no one else remotely like him.

The soundtrack to American Honey also features Steve Earles Copperhead Road, Mazzy Stars Fade Into You and Lady Antebellums American Honey. The film is set to play the Toronto Film Festival and will begin rolling out across America on September 30th.
