The space thriller Life, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds, debuted its terrifying second trailer Sunday, hours before a 30-second spot for the sci-fi film aired during Super Bowl 51.
The trailer kicks off on a celebratory tone as a team of astronauts, including Gyllenhaal, Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson, obtain the first form of life outside our planet.
However, when the minuscule alien sample begins to propagate and display intelligence, chaos breaks loose upon the spacecraft as the astronauts weigh whether to sacrifice themselves to eliminate the species-killing alien before it reaches Earth.
The trailer also features the reading of the childrens classic Goodnight Moon to haunting effect.
The films official synopsis describes Life a terrifying sci-fi thriller about a team of scientists aboard the International Space Station whose mission of discovery turns to one of primal fear when they find a rapidly evolving life form that caused extinction on Mars, and now threatens the crew and all life on Earth.
Life, one of Rolling Stones 50 Most Anticipated Movies of 2017, lands in theaters on March 24th.
