Some key members of the Rocky Horror Picture Show cast reunited for an interview onTodayto celebrate the cult classics 40th anniversary and discuss the impact it had on their lives. Ive had so many people come up to me and say that film helped them through a dark time, Susan Sarandon, who played the films Janet Weiss, said.
The thing that resonated for me, more than anything, was Dont dream it, be it, which was a really good slogan, said Tim Curry, who starred as transvestite Transylvanian Dr. Frank-N-Furter, referencing one of the musicals final numbers.
The other actors who joined Curry and Sarandon for the interview included Barry Bostwick (Brad Majors), Meat Loaf (Eddie, ex-delivery boy) and Patricia Quinn (Magenta). Absent from the reunion was the film and stage shows creator, Richard OBrien, who played Riff Raff in the film.
Did you ever learn the Time Warp? Bostwick asked Sarandon early in the interview.
Absolutely. I had to do it on numerous occasions, she replied. Its so often it rears its head.

The actors also shared memories of making the flick, which ultimately became the longest-running theatrical release in history. Meat Loaf recalled weighing about 315 pounds and wearing a garter belt, fishnet stockings and high heels. Sarandon recalled getting pneumonia, since the production occurred in a house with a leaky roof in wintertime.
The most interesting revelation, though, came from Curry, whod originated the role for the stage when the production was known as the Rocky Horror Show. His character, it turned out, was not always so genteel. Originally, I played him as a German, the actor said. He was Dr. Frank-N-Frter. And then one day I was on a London bus and I heard someone say [in a very prim English accent], Do you have a house in town? And I thought, Thats it. He should sound like the Queen.'
In other Rocky Horror anniversary news, the movie was recently reissued on Blu-ray in a deluxe edition that came with pink surgical gloves. The films soundtrack recently came out again in an absolute treasures edition, containing the film version of Sword of Damocles for the first time on an album.
The stage production of The Rocky Horror Show will be broadcast on BBC America on October 18th. The works creator, Richard OBrien, will guest as the Narrator along with several other guest narrators. Im still in awe at the popularity of the show, OBrien said in a statement. I wrote something I thought I might like to go see and its now lived successfully for more than 40 years in theaters around the world. Jumping on tage to bring the original show back to life has been an amazing experience. I hope audiences continue to have as much fun with it as I am.
The other guests include include Stephen Fry, Anthony Head (Merlin), Adrian Edmondson (The Young Ones), Emma Bunton (Spice Girls) and Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off).
