Gene Wilders Willy Wonka, Blazing Saddles Returning to Theaters

Two of Gene Wilders most beloved movies,Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factoryand Blazing Saddles, will return to AMC movie theaters this weekend in honor of the late actor, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The two films will be screened at 55 AMC locations across the U.S. on September 3rd and 4th.Ticketswill be available on the AMC websiteand both movies will cost $5.

The western parody Blazing Saddleswas one of three films Wilder made with director Mel Brooks. Thedirector recently told Rolling StonethatWilder was cast last minute after star Gig Young got sick the first day of shooting.Brooks and Wilder first worked together on the 1967 comedy, The Producersand they also co-wroteYoung Frankenstein, which opened in 1974 just 10 months after Blazing Saddles.

While all three films encapsulated Wilders knack for comic mania, the actors turn as the titular candy magnate in Willy Wonkahas become one of his most enduring roles. Despite a lukewarm showing at the box office upon its initial release in 1971, the big-screen adaptation of the Roald Dahl novel garnered a cult following in the Eighties and is now considered one of the greatest family films of all time.

Wilder died Monday due to complications from Alzheimers disease. He was 83.
