Michael Moore will premiere a new film about Donald Trump, Michael Moore in TrumpLand, tonight, October 18th in New York City, Deadline reports.
The film will screen for free at the IFC Center at 9:30 p.m. The box office opens at 8:30 p.m. and tickets will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis, Moore wrote onTwitter. The movie is expected to run in New York and Los Angeles over the weekend and it will be available on iTunes.
Michael Moore in TrumpLandis reportedly based on a one-man show Moore performed in Ohio earlier in October. See the film Ohio Republicans tried to shut down. Oscar-winner Michael Moore dives right into hostile territory with his daring and hilarious one-man show, deep in the heart of TrumpLand in the weeks before the 2016 election, reads the synopsis.
In late September, Moore wrote on Facebook that he had organized a performance at the Midland Theater in Newark, Ohio, the heart of Trump Country. But the performance was ultimately axed by the community board that oversees the theater.
According to Moore, the board told him he was too controversial and the board is afraid that renting the theater to him may cause the theater to lose long-standing patrons. Our board here is fairly conservative and it was felt that Mr. Moore would try to sway peoples minds to vote his way. Moore, of course, lauded the board for recognizing the subversive intent behind this one-man show and took the rejection as a compliment.

In an interview with The Columbus Dispatch, Nancy Anderson, executive director for the Midland Theater, said there was no formal vote on canceling the performance, but added there were logistical concerns about the performance itself, as well as the potential controversy and the potential for disruptive events to occur inside or outside the theater that could negatively affect the theater and other Newark businesses and residents, due to the current political climate.
In the same post, Moore said his producer had found another theater in Ohio, even deeper into Trump country, that was willing to host him. In a follow-up post, Moore announced plans to perform his show at the Murphy Theater in Wilmington, Ohio in Clinton County. Moore noted that Clinton County has 25,000 registered voters, and only 500 are registered democrats.
So why am I coming to Trump Country in Clinton County? Moore continued. Because I think I know why a lot of people in Ohio and Michigan, some of them my neighbors, are voting for Donald Trump good Midwestern people whose lives have been upended by the system thats been rigged against them. They used to be part of something that was called the middle class. Now they have a chance to hit back, to pick up a virtual baseball bat and smash that old system by voting for the outsider known as Trump. I want to talk to these voters. I want to see if I can meet them half-way. And I want to give them an hour or so of some good laughs over the craziest election year weve ever seen.
