The Graduate to Return to Theaters for 50th Anniversary


The groundbreaking 1967 comedy The Graduate will return to theaters this month to mark the classic films 50th anniversary.

A new 4K restoration of The Graduate will first premiere April 8th at Hollywoods Graumans Chinese Theatre as part of the TCM Classic Film Festival. Two weeks later, from April 23rd to April 26th, the restoration will expand to 700 multiplexes nationwide for TCM and Fathom Events monthly TCM Big Screen Classics series.

Director Mike Nichols unlikely blockbuster the film cost $3 million and brought back $105 million at the box office, or over $750 million when adjusted for inflation stars Dustin Hoffman as the titular college graduate who wrestles with life decisions while balancing a relationship with the older Mrs. Robinson (and later, Mrs. Robinsons daughter).

A fixture of countless greatest comedies and best movies of the Sixties lists and, thanks to Simon & Garfunkels famed contributions, one of Rolling Stones 25 Greatest Soundtracks of All Time The Graduate was nominated for seven Academy Awards, with Nichols winning Best Director.
