Woody Allentakes viewers back to stylish 1930s Hollywood in his first trailer for Caf Society, whichopens at the Cannes Film Festival in May. According to Variety, it will also be shown at the Seattle International Film Festival on May 19th for its North American premiere.
Jesse Eisenberg plays Bobby, a young man who moves to Los Angeles where hes taken in by the allure of the movie business. Aside from being charmed by the glamour thats surrounding him, Bobby falls for the character played by Kristen Stewartwhile being charmed by Blake Livelys character. In the video, hes warned that unrequited love kills more people per year than tuberculosis and that Love is not rational. You fall in love, you lose control.
His uncle, played by Steve Carell,is a big Hollywood player, who imparts this advice upon his nephews arrival: Its all about ego, this whole town runs on ego. Later, Bobby admits that hes Half bored, half fascinated by his new locale. True to the era, the video also contrasts the glitz against what looks like some mob action. The film also stars Parker Posey and Jeannie Berlin.
Life is a comedy, written by a sadistic comedy writer, Eisenbergs character concludes in the trailer.
The Amazon film is one of several projects Allen has planned with the online retail giant. He is also working on a series, which stars Miley Cyrus, thats slated to air via Amazon Prime streaming later this year.
