Producers of the Primetime Emmy Awards are making plans to pay tribute toRobin Williams, who died Monday,during their August 25th telecast. Plans for the In Memoriam segment are in discussion, executive producer Don Mischer told The Hollywood Reporter. While we are all still coming to terms with this weeks tragic news, we are working to give Robin Williams the proper and meaningful remembrance he so well deserves. In addition to his Academy Awards and Golden Globes wins, Williams was an nine-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee, winning twice in the Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program category for 1987s Carol, Carl, Whoopi, and Robin and 1988s ABC Presents: A Royal Gala. His most recent nominations came in 2010 for Outstanding Comedy Special for Robin Williams: Weapons of Self Destruction and in 2008 for his guest starring role on an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Williams was found deadin his Tiburon, California home on August 11th after an apparent suicide. Tributes continue to pour in for the legendary funnyman as Ben Stiller, the San Francisco Giants, the Roots ?uestlove, President Barack Obama and many morehave paid homage to the Good Will Hunting actor. Late night hosts Jimmy Fallonand Conan OBrienboth dedicated portions of their respective shows to reminisce about Williams always-memorable appearances.
