Francis Ford Coppola, J.J. Abrams and Ricky Gervais will participate in the Tribeca Talks series of the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, running April 13th to 24th in New York City. Alfonso Cuarn, Jodie Foster, Patti Smith, Joss Whedon, Olivia Wilde, Samantha Bee and Baz Luhrmann will also appear at the 15th annual fest, along with many other filmmakers, artists and executives.
Tribeca Talks: Directors Series will feature Foster with Julie Taymor, Whedon in conversation with Mark Ruffalo, Abrams with Chris Rock, Luhrmann with Nelson George and Cuarn with an as-yet-unannounced moderator. The new Storytellers installment, which features artists who work across mediums to tell their stories, will include Coppola, Smith, Tom Hanks withLast Week Tonighthost John Oliver, Idina Menzel and Tina Fey.
The After the Movie series which allows audiences to converse with filmmakers and actors after screenings of their films will include the world premiere of satirical comedy Special Correspondents, followed by a discussion with writer-director Ricky Gervais, actor Eric Bana and other cast members. The program will also include a screening of Contemporary Color, a documentary about David Byrnes live performance project pairing musicians with color guard teams; Byrne will lead a conversation with directors Bill and Turner Ross.
Another new 2016 entry is the Daring Women Summit, featuring conversations with influential women from the realm of arts and technology. Wilde,Full Frontals Samantha Bee, Rosie Perez, Google Entertainment Industry Educator in Chief Julie Ann Crommett, fashion designer Donna Karan and Fresh Off the Boat show runner Nahnatchka Khan will appear, among others.
