Its official: Omar Gonzalez has turned to the Dark Side.
Gonzalez, a member of the U.S. Mens National Team, has played with the L.A. Galaxy since being drafted by the team a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away (or 2009, at the MLS SuperDraft in St. Louis). Since then, hes earned MLS Rookie of the Year honors, won three MLS Cups and appeared in 180 games with the team, the ninth most in franchise history. But on Tuesday, the Galaxy transferred Gonzalez to Mexican club C.F. Pachuca, bringing an era to an end.
Despite that, Gonzalez sure seems determined to make the most of the move.
On Tuesday, hewas introduced at a press conference, and rather than showing up to the event as a normal person, he got into the Star Wars spirit and made light of his role in the U.S./Mexico soccer rivalry by rocking a full Darth Vader outfit. And as if that wasnt enough, he was even escorted intothe roomby a Stormtrooper and someone that sure looked like Emperor Palpatine because, well, whynot go all the way?
Gonzalez even stayed in character mask, lightsaber and all until he was officially announced as a member of the team.

Its not a huge surprise that Gonzalez went down this route. After all, were talking about a dude who spent Thanksgivingimpersonating Sexy Sax Man while wearing nothing more than a tiny pair of shorts and some socks. The Force is strong with this one, indeed.
