Watch Stephen Colbert Annoy Harrison Ford With Awful Han Solo Audition

Star Wars fans rejoiced after learning Harrison Ford would reprise his iconic role as Han Solo in the upcoming sequel The Force Awakens. Turns out they owe a galactic thanks to Stephen Colbert. Tuesdays episode of The Late Show featured a hilarious segment imagining an early discussion between Ford and Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams, with Colberts awkward attempt at stealing the Han Solo role pushing Ford to reclaim the character.

The scene, titled Han Wars, Episode VII: The Search for Solo, begins with Star Wars-styled intro credits, flashing back to a long three years ago in a hotel lobby in midtown An annoyed Ford meets Abrams to entertain his pitch, but he continuously refers to the director as J and refers to the sci-fi franchise as the space thing. A skeptical Ford, after bashing the Ewoks from Return of the Jedi, explains, I dont go back, man. I go forward.

But his attitude changes after Colbert arrives, dressed in Solo gear, and pitches himself for the part. The Late Show host fumbles with his toy blaster, amplifying the awkwardness with his own sound effects, and enrages Ford with his idea for a new Solo direction. Han Duo: Han and his brother, Fran, and were twins, he says. And one of them remembered to moisturize.

Disgusted at the idea, Ford agrees to take the role himself as he stomps out, telling Abrams to say hello to Gary Fisher for him.
